The album gives a detailed list of the medical and administrative staff involved in the control of the disease: pictures include information about camp life in the Formidable Epidemic Diseases Hospital, New Brighton; portraits of the staff involved; social conditions during the quarantine period, including the kitchen, contact tents, tents of plague patients, sports and play schools organised in the camp, washing and bathing facilities, sewage disposal, medical examinations, and people recovering from the plague; the destruction of contaminated houses in Korsten and New Brighton to prevent a new outbreak of the plague; the disinfection of people and dwellings through fumigation and a traditional healer fortelling the future by throwing bones.
