- Fusigobius duospilusis described as a new species from several localities in the tropical Pacific and Indian oceans. This species differs from other species of Fusigobius in pectoral ray and gill-raker counts, coloration, reduced pelvic frenum, branching of the pelvic rays, presence of two large black spots on the first dorsal fin and shape of the first dorsal fin. The species is free living on sand. Males average a larger size than females. Sex ratios are uneven, with about twice as many females as males. Fusigobius longispinus Goren is recorded from several localities in the western Indian Ocean, where populations differ morphologically from Red Sea populations. Fusiogobius neophytus africanusls regarded as a synonym of F. neophytus.
