- Description
- This, they said, was called "clapping for rain" and is only performed by the women. It is sung at a special ceremony held at the local rainshrine in time of drought - usually December or January. It is obligatory for everyone to attend, but if anyone should fail to do so, they must bring the person in charge of the ceremony (who is appointed by the Chief and is called Sikatongo), either a pure black goat, a black hen or black beads.
