- There was a man who had a wife and he killed a certain woman who had a child and so his wife adopted the baby. It was the child who is supposed to be singing this song. The child was trying to remember her mother and was thinking how she could have been brought up by her own mother. The mother was killed because of a dispute over an old cow.
