The singer has a wide reputation as a player of Ligombo an unusually beautiful instrument, with a large gourd attached to one end of the zither. His son is sitting beside him and tappinf the backs of his fingers on the gourd. Mkwawa also hits the gourd occasionally after the fashion of Spanish guitarists.
