- Description
- A stroy of a girl and the protective colouring of guinea fowl spots. One of the few stories, perhaps, which makes a reference to cannibalism. There was once a girl who went to the garden to fetch mealies. Now there came some guinea fowls and she was facinated by their spots. She said "oh! can't you make me some lovely spots like yours?" They said, "No! we cannot because we are afraid of your father and mother." But the girl said, "Don't you be afraid of my parents." So they made them for her. Then she went off to an old woman who was a cannibal and was delighted to see the girl but the girl put on her spots and escaped. Story song.
