- Let R be a commutative ring with nonzero identity, and let Z (R) be the set of its zerodivisors. There exists an association between a simple graph (R) and the set Z(R) of nonzero zero-divisors of R. In this dissertation we investigate how the properties of R a⁄ect the properties of (R) and vice versa. There are other graphs that are associated with R. Some of these are shown to be special cases of the congruence-based zero-divisor graph.
