- Many of the best pieces of music in South Rhodesia are dedicated to the traditional belief in Mashawi souls. Muzazaranda is one of several songs which accompany this interesting ritual. Mashawi 'Souls' are not to be confused with the various spirits. The former are said to live in the chest of the individual, the latter's usual habitation is external. Girls you have looked at me. Do you know me? You boys, my name is "The cutter of gourds". Do you east grandmother's food, you boys. Under the plate there is something suspicious. Chikanga do not leave me when you go hunting.
