- The necklace consists of 19 strings arranged in overlapping layers of green and white, red and white, and orange and white colours. It is fastened at the back with a brass button. This necklace is traditionally worn by middle-aged individuals, both men and women, belonging to the amaMpondo subcultural group within the isiXhosa-speaking community.
