The word Konsolo comes from the English word "Council" and was at the time in the 1930's considered a word of high praise for the most important people of the district.   • Description: There was once a man who came from Fort Johnson and married here in Zomba and after a while his wife became pregnant. So she told her husband, "I do not want any food, I will only eat the eggs of the lightning". Her husband was lucky enough to find the eggs of the lightning and she used to have them fresh every day. She would even find them herself, break the eggs, drink them up and bury the shells. Afterwards she would tell her husband to sit on the ground where she had buried the eggs. When he found them broken she would blame him saying she had absolutely nothing to eat all day. "You had better go get some more", she would say. In the end the man was struck by lightning as he was collecting eggs, and the lightning started singing, "I am coming". So it came and struck the man dead. Her brother fetched his body and brought it to the wife saying "noe because of your asking the impossible you have killed your husband." Then he killed his sister because he was so angry with her. There appeared to be no association between the words of the lyric and the occassion, the party after the burial, which could be established. The singers did not know why it was sung on such occassions. "Mother used to tell me that I should get married to a man with brick house and a lamp which is used for light instead of fire. Now I am married to a poor man who has patches on his clothes. patches! patches on his clothes!" A funeral dance sung after burual with tins (used as drums).

The Mujukwa are considered in the local mythology to represent the entities who act as go-betweens, or media, between man and the High-God: Especially in connection with their pleading for rain. Some would call them 'Angels'. The dances and songs of the Majukwa are therefore intended to concentrate attention upon aspect of social necessity. Rain, without which the people would perish. With the opening up of communications by white people the effects of draught and subsequent famine have been lessened and therefore the cult or belief in Majukwa and their functions has been proportianately diminished. He asked, "who calls me" and she would reply "It is mother who is calling. At lenght people began to remark that her husband was eating far too much and advised the wife to get rid of him.
